We’re lucky enough that you guys all love Paddy Wok for our mouth-watering spice bags - but believe it or not, as much as we’re good, we’re not quite as genius as to have invented them ourselves!
So, it goes without saying that they started in Ireland - but where?
According to my expert sources (aka a bit of digging around on Google) The Spice Bag was originally created in… you guessed it… Ireland; specifically The Sunflower Chinese takeaway in Dublin. After their tasty invention in 2010, The Spice Bag became very very well known and have been a delicious treat that almost everyone in the UK has heard of (maybe even more people than that!). Well, the point is, it gained so much popularity that in 2020 it won Just Eat’s award for ‘Ireland's favourite takeaway dish - and I have to agree, it just is the best takeaway dish.
After all that hype and very many spice bags for me back home in Ireland, it’s safe to say that when I moved to London, I wanted to introduce everyone to the taste of home. And trust me when I say, I searched high and low for that crispy chicken covered in spices, onion, peppers and other tasty goodness - but unfortunately it was nowhere to be found.
So, I introduce you to Paddy Wok. Where hopefully, your taste buds will be tingling and both your heart and belly full of A Taste of Ireland in London.
